Bonne anniversaire, mon ami.
I hate to ask you this because it is your birthday tomorrow, but have you been assigned to the murders as well?

It seems that it is a universal constant that no matter how well you do your job, no matter how hard you work for justice, occasionally injustice is out of your hands. I wish it were not so. I wish I could say that goodness prevails all of the time.
I suppose the purpose of becoming an adult is to learn when you can separate wishing from doing. What you can and cannot control, and how to find the best solution, not the perfect one.
And on that note, it is almost certainly time for a glass of wine and a hot bath. I find they cure the most persistent cases of ennui almost all of the time.
Warded: Gideon.
We are excellent at our job, damn it. No matter what anyone says.
